It was just a really great episode, and I’m excited to see if the show keeps going in this direction. Finn is filled with bitterness and resentment for a father that completely turned his back on him. I’m watching to see these characters develop and evolve, and having Finn lose a limb is probably the best decision they’ve made in terms of storytelling. Don’t get me wrong, the show is still hilarious, but I no longer feel like I’m watching through episode after episode for laughs. It truly feels like the show has matured with the characters, and it’s just so great. He’s no longer wiggling his arms around screaming goofy one-liners, he’s confused, he’s hurt, and he’s learning how to get through life’s troubles. Finn has gone through lots of crap, and it shows. And I really feel that Season 6 is definitely hammering in that mood so far, almost to the point where it doesn’t even feel like I’m watching a show that’s main audience is 11-14 boys. It started to feel more mature, and less goofy. And then by Season 5, you could start to feel the mood and style of the show change.

I’d say this opinion stayed the same through Seasons 3 and 4 too, but they began introducing more story, which I felt was even more incentive for a larger age range to love the show. When I first began watching, at Seasons 1 and 2, it was a smart and goofy cartoon that I felt everyone could enjoy, but it still felt like a kids show.

It’s strange to say, but the way I look at this show is slowly changing. This episode blew my mind in so many ways. Altogether, it provides great closure for all the crap that’s going on in Finn’s tormented noggin.

It presents a very different mood than what we’ve seen from Adventure Time in the past, and it’s a lot to wrap your head around. It would be best to at least start from the beginning of the season rather than start here.Ī very good episode, albeit slow at times. Space is where he’s gonna find his Dad! Daddy’s got an arm, and baby’s gonna harm his arm by tearing it off his Dad!”īecause of how recent episodes have been, I think I can say with certainty that “stand alone episodes” are going to be a bit less common from now on. Thanks to a strange “magic Finn arm” that he develops, (I smell a deeper meaning behind this) he begins building a tower, constructed from miscellaneous pieces of Ooo, to find his Dad and enact his revenge, all whilst singing a beautiful chorus of “Baby’s building a tower into space. Jake tells him to listen to his “melon heart” for what he should do, and Finn decides he wants to find his dad, punch him in the face, and steal his arm. Is it just me, or did Adventure Time just evolve into something much more?įinn has been trying to get by without his favorite arm, which was lost in the process of holding onto his Dad for dear life, but he’s starting to develop bitter feelings towards everything that has happened.
